FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Four suspects allegedly vandalized four parks, pedestrian bridge wall and Burger King

CARY, NC – Cary Police have arrested four teens who are allegedly part of a tagging crew linked to 16 vandalism cases, including incidents at four Town of Cary Parks; the following suspects were charged with Damage to Real Property:

  • Lucas Barfield,16, of 104 Cougar Court

  • Kyle Desern,18, of 511 Holtz Lane

  • Adam Gallion,18, of 1113 Castalia Drive

  • Michael McHenry, 17, of 730 Linda Court

Between May 3, 2008 and October 3, 2008 , the crew vandalized area parks and businesses, including $1895 in vandalism damages to trashcans, benches, walls and bathroom stalls at Fred G. Bond Metro, R.S. Dunham, Lexie Lane and Robert V. Godbold Park parks.  In addition, the crew vandalized the following: a bridge wall near the U.S. 1 Pedestrian bridge; bathroom walls at the Burger King, Ryan Road ; utility boxes in the 1100 block of Executive Circle and in the 300 block of South Walker Street ; and the roadway along Mosswood Lane .

The suspects are supposedly members of a tagging crew, known as the “All City Kings”.  Police do not believe the crew’s work is gang-affiliated.

“We take these types of crimes very seriously and hope that teachers, parents, and teen peers will help get that word out as we work hard to keep crimes like these from escalating into more serious issues for our community,” said Sergeant Toni Dezomits.

The simplest and most prevalent type of graffiti, tagging is often done in a color that contrasts sharply with its background. Tag can also be used as a verb meaning "to sign". Writers often tag on or beside their pieces, following the practice of traditional artists who sign their artwork.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes.  If you have information, contact Crime Stoppers at 226-CRIM(E) or contact Sgt.
