Cary Police Arrest Suspect in First Citizens Bank Robbery

CARY , NC – The Town of Cary Police Department arrested and charged Robert William Moynihan, 45, of 11313 N. Radner Way in Raleigh with one count of armed robbery today in connection with the robbery of First Citizens Bank, 1000 High House Road, in Cary on September 22, 2008. 

 

Thanks to a tip from an anonymous person who had seen media coverage of the robbery, police were led to the Moynihan’s home where they located the white van that was seen near the bank following the robbery.  A search warrant of the home revealed money and other items stolen during the robbery.      

 

“We appreciate the assistance of the tipster, the Raleigh Police Department and the FBI in helping us apprehend this suspect,” said Captain Mike Williams of the Cary Police Department.  “Rest assured, we remain committed to exhausting every lead until crimes are solved, and we encourage citizens to contact us when they have information regarding crimes.”
