IT TAKES FIVE & MORE TO TANGO AT LAST CONCERT OF THE SEASON IN CARY

Dinner for seniors & season ticket holders, free tango lessons highlights of concert

 

CARY , NC The music has been marvelous all season long, and the Town of Cary is pleased to welcome QuinTango to close out the Marvelous Music Series on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center , 101 Wilkinson Ave. ; the concert will also feature free dance lessons.  Comprised of a bass, cello, piano and two violins, QuinTango celebrates a century’s worth of tango repertoire.  Tickets are still available for $18 (adults), $16 (seniors 55 and older), and $15 (children 12 and under); tickets may be purchased at the Community Center or at Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or (919) 834-4000.

 

QuinTango brings its own interpretations to the evocative music style of tango through five musicians:  Joan Singer (violin), Jennifer Rickard (violin), Jorge Espinoza (cello), Libby Blatt (double bass) and Jeffrey Watson (piano).  Winner of multiple music awards, QuinTango is the only tango music group to have given a Command Performance at The White House. Also, the group has been heard on NPR's Morning Edition, CNN, and network television in both the United States and Costa Rica .

 

Concert goers will be in for even more delights before and after the performance.  Beginning at 6:30 p.m. , seniors and season ticket holders will be treated to dinner.  Following the concert, free tango lessons will be offered to guests. 

 

“Come out and help us celebrate the conclusion of another wonderful music series,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.  

 

QuinTango has played to sell-out crowds both at home and abroad. They performed at both the 9th and 12th International Music Festivals in Costa Rica and made their European debut in 2002 with five performances in Normandy , France . A highlight of QuinTango's domestic schedule is their annual performances at Charleston 's Piccolo Spoleto Festival.  Other festival performances in the country include the Kennedy Center Open House Festival, Wolf Trap's Theatre-in-the-Woods Children's Festival and the Virginia Highlands Festival.
