September 23, 2008

CARY, NC – There will be a lot of happy people at Applause! Cary Youth Theatre’s Improv Comedy Night on Saturday, September 27 at 7 p.m. in the Cary Senior Center Ballroom, 801 High House Road ; doors open at 6:30 p.m.   The fast-paced, hilarious show will feature local teens performing improvisational comedy in amusing characters, skits and games based on audience suggestions.

“Here’s your chance to catch Cary ’s humorous and talented teens live on stage and best of all, it’s free,” said Youth Theatre Coordinator Rachel Green. Green added that the performance gives teens the opportunity to build their drama skills through confidence-building performances.

This performance is part of a Drama Workshop Series class offered by Applause! Cary Youth Theatre to teach specific theatre skills to teens.  Jason Pierce, a professional Improv comedian from Greensboro and the instructor of the class, will serve as emcee. Class topics vary, and each class culminates in a performance designed to showcase skills learned in class.

Applause! offers youth theatre classes year-round, with week-long camps during the summer.  Additionally in the summer, the Applause! Touring Troupe rehearses and performs a patriotic drama as part of the Town of Cary ’s Independence Day festivities.
