IT’S TIME FOR THREE YOUNG TALENTED MUSICIANS AT CARY ’S MARVELOUS MUSIC SERIES CONCERT

Talented trio transforms string music with diverse styles

CARY, NC – Violinist Zachary DePue, violinist Nicolas Kendall and double bassist Ranaan Meyer will be striking all the right chords when their ensemble, “Time For Three”, performs at the Town of Cary’s final Marvelous Music Series concert on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the   Herb Young Community Center , 101 Wilkinson Ave.   Tickets for the show are $18 (adults), $16 (seniors 55 and older) and $15 (children 12 and younger); tickets can be purchased at the Herb Young Community Center or online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge-by-phone, (919) 834-4000 (convenience fees will apply for online and charge-by-phone orders).

Founded in 2001 by three Curtis Institute of Music students, Time For Three burst onto the scene in July 2003, following a lightning-induced power failure at Philadelphia ’s Mann Center for the Performing Arts.  Prompted by fellow orchestra members to entertain the audience while the lighting was being restored, the members obliged with an unforgettable impromptu jam session.  Since their debut, the trio has continued to transcend musical genres, performing an eclectic mix of bluegrass, Hungarian gypsy, jazz, country-western fiddling, classical, and improvisatory music.

“It’s your time to come out and enjoy the refreshing music of Time For Three,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.  “We’re delighted to welcome this ensemble to our community for the final concert in our annual Marvelous Music Concert Series.”  Each year, the Town-sponsored series draws national performing artists to the area.

In October 2002 Time For Three released their first CD, simply entitled Time for Three.  Since then, the group has performed at over 200 engagements in venues as diverse as its music, appearing as featured guest soloists with the Philadelphia Orchestra and opening for k.d. lang at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, to name just a few.  Other recent season highlights include performances at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall, the Beethoven Society in Washington, DC, the Cerritos Center in Los Angeles, Joanne Woodward’s Westport Playhouse, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Wyoming’s Grand Teton Music Festival, and Chicago’s “Music in the Loft” series.
