AREA TEENS TO EXPLORE ARE WE ALL REALLY THAT DIFFERENT? IN CARY

Internationally-known magician to help teens understand and appreciate diversity

 

CARY, NC – Middle and high school aged teens will talk out their differences at the fourth annual Town of Cary Teen Forum, entitled “Are we All Really that Different?” on Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Ave., in Cary.  This conference-style event, which is designed by teens for teens, will include breakout sessions on an array of diversity topics, including: Speak UP, Drumming Around the world, Cultural Dance and How Does IT Feel?.  Advance tickets are $5 for Cary residents and $7 for non-residents and are available at any Town of Cary community center; tickets at the door are $7 for residents and $8 for non-residents.  Registration is also available through EZ reg at www.townfocary.org.

 

This year, magician and illusionist Jim Passé will be the keynote speaker at the event. In addition to being an internationally known magician, Passé is also a former national class cyclist and lawyer who is challenged with a spinal cord injury that has left him with both legs paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.  He helps people understand how they can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and achieve their life goals.

 

“We’re inviting all area teens out for this special event,” said Cindi King, Assistant Community Center Supervisor.  “This event provides a great opportunity for teens to engage in open dialogue amongst their peers.  In addition, a renowned public speaker will encourage teens to overcome obstacles in their lives.”
