TOWN OF CARY IS WARMING UP FOR TWO MUSICAL EVENINGS AT BOND PARK

Concert goers invited to bring their instruments for a finger pickin’ jam session

 

CARY, NC – Some “Kickin’ Grass” and “Sweet Potato Pie” are just few of the melodious treats in store for guests at two of Cary’s Spring Sertoma Series’ concerts that will be held this weekend; Bluegrass & BBQ kicks off the weekend on Saturday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. and the Triangle Wind Ensemble (TWE) will put on another spectacular performance on Sunday, June 10 at 6 p.m.  Both concerts will be held at the Sertoma Amphitheatre at Fred G. Bond Metro Park , 801 High House Road .  The free concerts are part of the Town’s Annual Spring Sertoma Concert Series that features the best in free, live, outdoor entertainment.

 

On Saturday, the Bluegrass & BBQ concert will feature a number of bluegrass bands including Heritage Band, Sweet Potato Pie, and Kickin’ Grass.  Beginning at 2:30 p.m. , the Apple Chill Cloggers will share their style of Southern Appalachian Mountain clogging.  At 5 p.m. , spectators are welcome to bring their instruments and join in for the Finger’ Pickin’ jam session and performance.  Also, food will be provided by a local restaurant as follows:  hot dogs ($2), BBQ sandwiches ($5) and ribs ($3-$18); only cash payment is accepted.

 

Then, Sunday's concert will feature more than 30 of the area’s most talented wind and percussion instrumentalists that comprise the TWE.  Members of the TWE perform six to seven concerts each year throughout the Triangle and maintain a commitment to collaborate with local school music programs and other community ensembles such as the Concert Singers of Cary.

 

“We’re looking forward to another crowd-pleasing weekend of live entertainment,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.  “Music lovers of all ages are invited to enjoy the great food, music and fun that the Spring Sertoma Series offers.” 

   

Also, guests are invited to return to the Amphitheatre for the final Spring Concert Series performance by Circus Day featuring Flow Circus on June 23 at 3 p.m.
