SPRING DAZE IS HERE AGAIN AT THE TOWN OF CARY ’S ANNUAL FESTIVAL THIS SATURDAY

Free shuttles to be provided to accommodate nearly 15,000 festival goers

CARY, NC – Thousands from across the state and southeast region are getting ready for a day of international music, flavorful foods and functional art at its best at the 14th Annual Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Bond Park, 801 High House Road in Cary.  The free festival kicks off at 9 a.m. with a performance by the N.C. State University Pipes and Drums Band and the enjoyment continues until 5 p.m. with nearly 150 artists, 16 different performing groups on stage, 22 civic groups, five concession areas and two demonstrating artist guilds.

Upon arriving at the festival, children and adults can take an active part in the day’s festivities.  A specially-marked “Children’s Village” will provide a fun and interactive area for parents and their children to enjoy exhibits and hands-on crafts.  The Town is also incorporating the annual Earth Day celebration into the festival, with a plant sale, free tree seedlings and other giveaways, environmental games, and crafts. As an added treat, visitors can fill out an “earth day passport” that can be redeemed for a free globe beach ball after visiting booths in the village.

“This year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever,” said Joy Cox, Cary Festivals Coordinator.  “We’re inviting everyone out for this opportunity to enjoy valuable time with families, friends and the Triangle community, and this year, we’ve made it even easier for everyone to reach the festival.”

Again this year, festival goers can ride C-Tran’s East-West route free of charge to and from the festival; the service will run every half-hour leaving from the Cary Train Depot between North Academy Street and Harrison Avenue .  The Town is also providing a free shuttle bus from the Town Hall Parking Deck on Wilkinson Avenue ; shuttles run every 15-20 minutes between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.    Parking will also be available inside Bond Park at the Bond Park Community Center and at the Cary Senior Center and Ropes Course parking area.  A free shuttle from the parking areas will be provided also.

In the event of rain, the Spring Daze Festival will be postponed to Sunday, April 29, 2007 from noon until 6 p.m.

“Arts festivals devotees will also be delighted to know that the Town is also gearing up to host the Annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival on Saturday, August 25, 2007,” added Cox.  It will feature artists from around the country.”
