AREA TEENS PREPARE TO DO BATTLE WITH THE BARD THIS WEEKEND

CARY, NC – To be or not to be at the Cary Senior Center, 120 Maury O’Dell Place, on Saturday, February 17 is no question for area teens from Cary’s Drama Workshop Series sWORDplay class who will present “Battle with the Bard”, a performance showcasing Shakespearean plays and stage combat.  Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the free show that kicks off at 7 p.m. in the ballroom at the Senior Center .

“Here’s your chance to see Shakespeare like you’ve never seen him before,” said Youth Theatre Coordinator Rachel Green.  “Each year, area teens gear up for this fun, positive opportunity to share their acting skills with their peers and the general public, and this year they’re especially looking forward to trying their hands at a new skill – stage combat.”

The show is part of the Drama Workshop Series offered by Applause! Cary Youth Theatre to teach specific theatre skills to teens.  Class topics vary, and each class culminates in a performance designed to showcase skills learned in class and provide an evening of fun, no-cost entertainment to families and other citizens.

In support of their fellow teens, the Cary Teen Council will also sell concessions as part of Saturday’s show.

For teens interested in participating in future performances, Applause! offers youth theatre classes year-round with week-long camps during the summer.  In addition, auditions for the Applause! spring production – Legend of Pocahontas – will be held in late February and March.  For more, visit Applause!
