CARY POLICE IDENTIFY and seek help locating “BANK OF AMERICA ” SHOOTER

Suspect allegedly shot victim making deposit at the bank while 2 other suspects aided

 

CARY, NC – Following weeks of intensive investigation and the arrests of two suspects linked to the Bank of America shooting on June 17, 2007, the Town of Cary Police Department has identified the alleged shooter and is asking for your help in locating the suspect, Phillip Thomas “Scoob” Williams, 34, of 3308 Rehoveth Church Road, Apt. R, Greensboro; his prior address was 1253 MacArthur Drive, Camden, NJ.  Williams is wanted for Attempted Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.

 

“We believe that the suspected shooter could be armed and dangerous, and any information from the public about his location would be greatly appreciated,” said Captain David Wulff.  “We’re also pleased that other agencies have joined us in bringing the suspects to justice, including the U.S. Marshals Service, Greensboro Police Department and Camden Police Department in New Jersey.” 

 

At 12:30 p.m. on June 17, 2007 , Williams allegedly shot a 51-year-old Cary woman who was making a deposit at the Bank of America ATM, 801 SE Maynard Road .  The suspect then ran across Maynard Road to Cary Towne Center mall where he jumped into a red sedan with New York tags being driven by a male.  The team then fled the scene.  On July 12, 2007 with the aid of the Cary Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested Terrance Adam Lyles, 31, and Travis Monique Price, 24, both of 5400 Portree Place, Raleigh, for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Accessory After the Fact to Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, respectively.  The two were arrested in Philadelphia , and they were brought to North Carolina on August 1, 2007 .  The two have been held in the Wake County Public Safety Center on a $250,000 bond each since their return.

 

If convicted of all charges, Williams could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.  Lyles could face a penalty of 38 to 183 months in prison and Price could face 10 to 49 months in prison.

 

The woman who was shot is out of the hospital and doing well.  Officials are continuing to protect her identity out of concerns for her safety.
