Cary Community Foundation Names KB Home as Presenting Sponsor

Other Key Participants Reflect Commitment to Cary

Cary, N.C. (February 19, 2007) – The Cary Community Foundation (CCF) today designated KB Home as its “Presenting Sponsor,” accepting a generous donation towards its Founders’ Fund. The CCF also named additional key sponsors, including First Citizens and Fidelity Bank, whose support reflects the Foundation’s strong commitment to the future of Cary and its residents.

The donations by KB Home and other sponsors will help firmly establish the CCF in Cary and fund a number of projects and charities focused on Cary and its residents. In addition to these key sponsors, a number of other local businesses and individuals have likewise lent their financial support to the mission of the Foundation.

"The generosity of these sponsors and their continued commitment to Cary – the community in which they live and do business – is critical to the success of the Cary Community Foundation,” said Jennifer Robinson, Foundation president.  “KB Home, First Citizens, Fidelity Bank and all of our sponsors are helping to make the Foundation become a reality. Now we can look forward to projects like Veteran’s Freedom Park and the Town’s performing arts center becoming a reality as well.”

"Through this donation, we hope to show our support for Cary – our community – and to help establish a legacy of giving both now and in the future,” said Trish Hanchette, Raleigh division president for KB Home. "We are honored to participate in the important mission of the Cary Community Foundation and lend our support to their vision of what Cary will become.” KB Home will donate $100 for each home it closes in its Cary communities during 2007. And although no additional costs are passed on to the homebuyer, this program creates the opportunity for those purchasing a KB Home to likewise support the CCF. Each new home packet contains information about the CCF and its mission.

The Cary Community Foundation was created in 2005 by Cary residents and businesses to increase opportunities for philanthropy among those living and working in Cary. The CCF operates under the umbrella of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF), which has over $110 million in permanent assets from which grants are made. Over time, the CCF will build a body of hundreds of funds, established through the passion and commitment of the community. The Foundation’s accessible approach to philanthropy is illustrated by the CCF mission statement: To enable all citizens and businesses to contribute to their community and its legacy.

Currently, there are several existing funds into which people may contribute. The Founders’ Fund provides the framework for the CCF, establishing the core capacity to meet the immediate needs of the Foundation and ensure its permanence. A large portion of The Founders’ Fund will also be invested as a permanent endowment for future grant-making to benefit myriad Cary-based causes and projects.
