UPDATED PUBLICATION GUIDES CARY CITIZENS THROUGH THEIR GOVERNMENT

CARY, NC – Nearly 46,000 households in Cary will this week receive in the mail the Town of Cary’s Citizen’s Guide to Services—the popular purple book that serves as a comprehensive quick reference to the Town of Cary local government.  First published in 2001, the 62-page updated Guide is chock full of answers to questions citizens ask every day about services they need and enjoy that are provided by their Town government--from “accident reports” and “farmers market” to “pets,” “public art,” and “solid waste collection.”

In addition to the 37-page alphabetical listing and explanation of services, Cary ’s updated Guide includes sections about the Town’s history, management, vital statistics, and budget as well as information on how citizens can become more involved in their Town government.  The Guide also lists dozens of Cary superlatives. The purple book ends with a Town of Cary telephone directory as well as a separate list of commonly requested telephone numbers for services provided by agencies outside Town government.

“We’re pleased to be able to provide an updated version of this very popular and important resource,” said Town of Cary Public Information Officer Susan Moran .  “Whether you’re new to Cary or have lived here all your life, the Citizen’s Guide to Services is a valuable complement to the other information tools available from the Town.”

In addition to the hardcopy version being mailed this week, an electronic version of the Guide is available in the Services section of www.townofcary.org for easy download by residents or businesses that want a number of copies for their use.  The Town is also updating the Spanish-language version of the Guide, which should be available online in a few months.

Cary ’s updated Guide to Services, which is intended to last through 2009, was printed by Benson Newspaper Printing at a cost of about 38 cents each.
