CARY TOWN BAND TO KICK OFF THE 2007 CONCERT SEASON

CARY , NC The Cary Town Band is starting the year off on a high note with the first of four free concerts for the year on Friday, January 19 at Cary Senior Center at Bond Park, 801 High House Road , at 7:30 p.m.   Remaining concert dates include March 9 and May 18 at the Senior Center and July 3 at the Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park as part of the Independence Day celebrations; all concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Cary Town Band, directed by Dr. James R. Hammerle, is reminiscent of the turn of the century bands led by Sousa, Goldman and others who popularized band concerts all over America . The band plays American and foreign marches, circus music, overtures and other "pops" classical music, polkas, and waltzes.

“Make plans now to come out and enjoy the sounds of this talented group,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.

The Cary Town Band was formed in the fall of 1987 with 16 musicians. Today, it is comprised of more than 30 musicians from Cary , Raleigh , Apex, and surrounding areas, almost all of whom are professionals in some line of work other than music.
