CARY , NC Go where no one has gone before and join the Applause! Cary Youth Theatre as they present The Time Machine, Friday- Sunday, Nov. 16-18 at the Cary Academy Fine & Performing Arts Center, 1500 N. Harrison Ave. in Cary; the Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday’s show begins at 2 p.m.  Advance tickets can still be purchased for $10 (adults) $8 (seniors and students), and $5 (children under the age of 5) at the Herb Young Community Center box office, noon-6 p.m., Monday-Friday or through Ticketmaster at (919) 834-4000 or at www.ticketmaster.com.  All tickets purchased at the door are $10.

Based on the H.G. Wells classic, The Time Machine features Scientist Filby whose latest invention is a machine that travels through time! The adventure begins when Filby is propelled far into the future, where he discovers a world of childlike Eloi, brutal Morlocks and big questions about the past.  When Filby discovers the future may not be all that it seems, he must risk his life to get back home.

“Bring the entire family out for a lively performance of this childhood classic,” said Youth Theatre Coordinator Rachel Green.  “Each year, the area’s most talented youth put on a great performance, and this year, we’re expecting another spectacular show.”  Green added that this year’s technical director is Shannon Clark, manager of the Fine Arts auditorium at Cary Academy .

Since 1999, Applause! productions have been introducing the world of theatre, performance and production to first-time performers, designers and stagehands, and giving more advanced participants a chance to further develop their skills and interests.  The productions also nurture creativity and build confidence in young people.  In addition to two annual mainstage productions, Applause! offers process-oriented theatre classes, camps and workshops staffed by professional actors, designers, directors and teachers.  In November 2006, Applause! produced their first ever musical, Once on This Island , Jr.
