A CHRISTMAS STORY TO BE PERFORMED ON CARY STAGE THIS WEEKEND

Special preview performance on Thursday

 

CARY , NC – The holiday TV classic that has captured the hearts of young ones for decades is once again coming to the Town of Cary when the Cary Players present “A Christmas Story” at Old Cary Elementary, 100 Dry Ave., on December 7-9 and December 14-16.  Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and shows start at 3 p.m. on Sundays.  Tickets are available for $12 (adults), $10 (seniors 55 and older and students with ID), and $8 (12 and under) at the Community Center or at Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or (919) 834-4000.  All tickets at the door are $12.

 

“Don’t miss this opportunity for good, wholesome family entertainment from one of the area’s most talented theatre companies,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.

 

The performance will feature local children and adults who bring to life Ralphie Parker and his quest for a genuine Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas.  Philip Grecian’s adaptation includes favorite scenes from the motion picture including: exploding furnaces, triple dog dares, and the infamous woman’s leg lamp.

 

New this year, the Town is offering a special opportunity to preview the play on Thursday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m.  Guests are invited to pay the amount of their choice at the door.

 

Cary Players is a non-profit community theatrical company with a mission to provide opportunities for the citizens of Cary and surrounding areas to share their theatrical talents and to attend theatrical events.  Cary Players produces several plays and theatrical events each year with support from the Town of Cary , including a smaller February production, “Love Bits & Bites”.  The group has also produced “The Dining Room” at the Page Walker Hotel and “Robin Hood” at the Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park.
