CARY’S A-TEAM SNOW FIGHTERS HIT THE ROAD

CARY, NCThe snow is falling in Cary, and the Town of Cary’s Snow Fighters are out in full force targeting Cary’s bridges, significant hills and historically icy spots with sand and salt.  Crews operating 14 spreaders are tapping into the more than 2,200-ton supply of sand/salt mix the Town has on hand.  There have been no storm-related traffic accidents reported thus far in Cary.

“Right now, we are directing trucks to traditionally icy spots such as bridges and overpasses, and as the precipitation continues to fall, we will adjust our response as needed,” said Town of Cary Public Works Director Mike Bajorek.  “Also, our solid waste crews began collecting trash earlier than usual at 7 a.m. today in case the road conditions change.  If we miss anyone, we are asking them to please call us to reschedule.” Bajorek added that if the precipitation increases to the point that collection services are interrupted, the Town will resume services on Friday, collecting along Thursday and Friday’s routes.

On Wednesday, Town crews applied brine along solid waste collection routes scheduled for pick up today.  The Town has 57 plows available to clear Cary’s 450 miles of roads, 100 miles of which are state-maintained roads.

The A-Team clears thoroughfares, primary roads in subdivisions, followed by thru-streets in subdivisions and then cul-de-sacs.  The Town does not clear private parking lots, including those in apartment and condominium complexes or at businesses.

TRASH COLLECTION

Solid waste is being collected today.  Please call (919) 469-4090 if you missed us.

Yard waste will not be collected today.  However, crews will pick up Thursday and Friday’s yard waste during Friday’s collection, if weather conditions permit.

C-TRAN

C-Tran door-to-door transit service is only operating within a ¾ mile radius of the three fixed routes for persons with disabilities. Fixed route service will continue to operate inside Cary.  While C-Tran door-to-door does plan to operate on Friday, riders with reservations for Friday are encouraged to call C-Tran at (919) 481-2020 to confirm that service will be available.
