TRIANGLE VANDALS STRIKE CARY CONSTRUCTION SITE

CARY, NC – Town of Cary Police are asking for your help in finding suspects that have been spray painting triangles and phrases on construction equipment and signs in and around the High House Road Widening construction site from N.C. 55 to just east of Carpenter Upchurch Road in Cary.  Since November 18, 2005 , the vandals have struck in the area eight times, including the latest instance on Monday, February 6, and damages have exceeded $2,000. The crimes have been taking place late evenings into early mornings in each of the incidents.

In all of the cases, green and brown triangles have been painted, and in one case, key slots were sealed with glue.  Police also found phrases including:  “Stop Killing,” “Save Them,” “Murderer,” and “Man Will Not Realize Till He Cuts Down The Last Tree.”  Three of the eight incidents occurred at the construction site of the Cary Presbyterian Church near the widening project.

“No matter how much you love trees—and we all really love them a lot in Cary—expressing yourself in this way is pure vandalism, and such crimes cannot be excused,” said Captain Dave Wulff.

Cary Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s).  If you have information, contact Crime Stoppers at 226-CRIM(E), or contact Captain Dave Wulff at (919) 469-4017. All calls will be kept CONFIDENTIAL at caller's request.
