TRAFFIC ALERT

The Town of Cary Police Department will temporarily close all lanes of U.S. 1 North at I-40 in Wake County Friday, December 29, 2006 from 3 a.m. until 5 a.m. to perform measurements for reconstruction of the fatal crash that occurred at the interchange on Thursday, December 21.  In that one-car collision, Brendan McCann, 23, of Apex was killed after being ejected from his vehicle that ran off the road and struck a guardrail.  During the lane closures, motorists traveling north on U.S. 1 should exit onto I-40 East and take the Gorman Street exit to I-40 West back to U.S. 1 North.  The highway will be reopened lane-by-lane after appropriate measurements are taken.
