PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                  October 27, 2006

PICK UP NEW SMOKE ALARM AT CARY FIRE STATIONS AS PART OF CHANGE YOUR CLOCK CHANGE YOUR BATTERY CAMPAIGN

Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Oct. 29, and the Town of Cary Fire Department is giving away 1,000 new smoke alarms – batteries included – to help remind citizens to check their smoke alarms when they set their clocks back an hour as part of the national “Change Your Clock Change Your Battery” campaign.  Each year, the campaign encourages citizens to change the batteries in their smoke alarms when the time changes and if their smoke alarms are more than 10 years old to replace their unit itself.  If your unit is old, stop by any Cary Fire Station to receive your new unit while supplies last.  For more, call (919) 460-4958 or visit the Risk Management Page at www.townofcary.org.
