WINNING STUDENTS TO BE
RECOGNIZED FOR TAKING STAND AGAINST DRUGS

The Town of Cary Police Department and Town Council Member Julie Robison
will announce the winners of the Red Ribbon Poster Contest, a competition
sponsored by the Town to promote a drug-free lifestyle. All
school winners, their families, poster judges, and the Town Council have
been invited to participate in a pizza dinner before the meeting, and winners
will be recognized during the meeting.
BACKGROUND:
Sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students
at Davis Drive, Reedy Creek, West Cary and West Lake middle schools demonstrated
their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle during Red Ribbon week,
October 23-31. In addition to
wearing red ribbons during the week-long event, students were invited to submit
entries in the poster contest that incorporated the theme “Believe, Achieve,
Succeed – Drug Free!” Three
winners were selected from each school, and the first place winner from each
school competed for the overall winner. The
