CARY POLICE ARREST ONE SUSPECT IN STRING OF VENDING MACHINE BURGLARIES

Warrant pending against second suspect

 

CARY, NC – Cary Police have arrested and charged Matthew T. Moses, 27, of 415-C Benson Court, Cary with 24 counts of various charges related to a string of break-ins and vending machine burglaries that have been occurring in Cary since mid August.  A Crime Stoppers tip provided the identity of the suspect who was later apprehended during a traffic stop in Raleigh on Monday, October 30. Following questioning by Cary and Raleigh police, Cary Police charged Moses with six counts of Felonious Breaking and Entering; 14 counts of Breaking into Coin or Currency Operated Machine; three counts of Damage Coin or Currency Operated Machine and three counts of Felony Larceny.

 

Moses and an accomplice allegedly broke into the following locations and stole money from vending machines: Green Hope High School , 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Road ; Cary High School , 638 Walnut St. ; Cary Swim Club, 536 Walnut St. and Cary Christian School, 1330 Old Apex Road .  The second suspect is in custody, awaiting warrant service.

 

“Thanks to the anonymous tip and the collaboration between Raleigh and Cary Police, we were able to get this suspect off the street and in custody,” said Captain Dave Wulff.  Raleigh Police have also filed charges against Moses in a similar string of burglaries in Raleigh

 

Felonious Breaking and Entering and Felony Larceny are Class H felonies that each carry a maximum penalty of 4-25 months in prison.  Breaking into Coin or Currency Operated Machine is a Class I felony that carries a maximum of 3-12 months in prison.  Damage Coin or Currency Operated Machine is a Class 1 misdemeanor that carries a maximum of 1-150 days in prison.
