CARY POLICE CLOSE THE CASE ON UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT

CARY, NC – Thanks to a tip from a caller watching the evening news broadcast, Cary Police have confirmed that the “flying object” that plunged through the roof of a home at 518 Grant Forest Lane on Wednesday, July 12 was a part of a grinding machine that Hensons, Inc. of Tryon, NC was using to clear trees for new development directly behind the affected home.  Hensons, Inc. has contacted the homeowner.

Initially, Cary Police and the FAA believed the mysterious object – a brick-shaped piece of metal measuring seven inches long by four inches wide by two inches high with two holes and weighing about ten pounds – was part of an airplane.  However, the FAA is no longer involved, and Cary Police have concluded their investigation.

The grinding machine was moved away from the construction site at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 13.
