NO CHARGES TO BE FILED AGAINST

FORMER CARY TEACHER

CARY, NC – Working in consultation with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office and following a complete investigation, the Town of Cary Police Department will file no charges against a former teacher from Apex, NC.

On Friday, December 8, 2006 , the Cary Police Department received an anonymous phone call alleging that a teacher at Cary Academy , 1500 North Harrison Ave. , had resigned his position at the school after inappropriately videotaping students on December 4.  While a tape was made, officials have concluded that it was done so accidentally, and the tape was destroyed.

“The teacher and the school have both been extremely cooperative as we’ve worked to determine what actually occurred in this incident,” said the head of Cary ’s Criminal Investigations Unit, Captain Dave Wulff.

“We appreciate the diligence and the thoroughness of the Cary Police Department in the investigation of this sensitive matter,” said Head of School Don Berger.  “We have confidence in the outcome and are pleased that the case is closed.”

Police are not publicizing the 41-year old former teacher’s name since they have deemed that no crime was committed.
