CARY POLICE MAKE ARREST IN PEDESTRIAN HIT AND RUN

 

CARY , NC At 3 p.m. today, Cary Police arrested Lamont Medlin, 28, whose last known address is 505 Webster St. in Cary for felony hit and run and possession of a stolen vehicle.     

 

According to eyewitnesses, Medlin hit a pedestrian, Nancy Miller of Apex, and stole her purse in the Crescent Commons parking lot at 2080 Kildaire Farm Road before fleeing the scene in a stolen, silver 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser.  Medlin was spotted by a Cary Police Officer near the scene, and Cary Police began a pursuit.  As Medlin was fleeing, he sideswiped one vehicle, then rear-ended another vehicle, after which his car became disabled.  The suspect then fled his vehicle and led police on a foot chase that ended when the suspect climbed onto the roof of the Best Western Hotel at 1722 Walnut St. , where he was taken into custody.

 

“This was a terrible crime, and we will continue to investigate this incident,” said Lieutenant Don Hamilton.

 

The suspect was transported to WakeMed Cary Hospital following an injury sustained during the pursuit.  Miller was transported to WakeMed Trauma Center in Raleigh , and the sole occupant in the rear-ended vehicle, Paul Lewis of Cary , was transported to WakeMed Cary Hospital .      

 

Additional charges against Medlin are pending.
