“This event is a great opportunity for residents to meet and speak with law enforcement, fire department, and EMS officials - in their own neighborhoods and at their leisure,” said Town of Cary Community Services Officer Michael Sakata . “We hope that citizens will be better informed about the services available to them from law enforcement as well as other county and state-level agencies following National Night Out.”

The following organizations are also participating in this year’s National Night Out:  Citizens Assisting Police (CAP) Team, Wake County Sheriff's Department, N.C. Highway Patrol, State Bureau of Investigation, City-County Bureau of Identification, Cary Crime Stoppers, Cary Towne Center , and Interact of Wake County.

In addition to the site visits, the Cary Police Department is encouraging community watch groups and homeowners' associations to observe this year’s National Night Out by displaying outdoor lights on their homes or holding block parties and cookouts.

According to the National Association of Town Watch, nearly 35 million people in 10,700 communities are expected to participate in National Night Out across the nation this year.
