FAIR & ART LOVERS ARE CATCHING THE MIDWAY IN CARY

 

CARY , NC There’s more than one way to get an up-close look at “The Midway” in the Triangle this week; Diana Hooper Bloomfield ’s Photography Exhibition entitled “The Midway” is on display at Cary Town Hall , 316 N. Academy St. , now through Friday, October 27, 2006 .    Bloomfield ’s collection features photographs taken at the North Carolina State Fair using a 4-by-5 inch superwide pinhole camera printed in black and white and color, as well as hand-colored 35-mm silver gelatin images.

 

“We are delighted to have this talented, local artist’s photography gracing the walls of our Town Hall,” said Public Art Coordinator Denise Dickens.  “We invite everyone to come out and see the Midway from a new perspective.”  The artwork can be viewed during Town Hall’s normal operating hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; there is no charge to see the exhibition.

 

Bloomfield specializes in pinhole photography and 19th-century printing techniques, including platinum/palladium, cyanotype, and hand-tinting of photographs.  She has lived and worked in Raleigh for 25 years and has received numerous national awards for her images. 

 

Bloomfield teaches at various locations in the Triangle, including NC State University Crafts Center in Raleigh and at Duke University ’s Center for Documentary Studies in Durham .
