to KICK OFF
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND WITH TWO NIGHTS OF OUTDOOR MUSIC

– Folks looking for a way to
jump start their Memorial Day festivities should look no further because the
Cary
Town
Band and the Concert Singers of
Cary
will help spark American pride on Friday, May 26 and
Saturday,
May 27, 2006
during two outdoor concerts sponsored by the Town of
Cary
’s
Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources department.
This
Friday at
7:30 p.m.
, the Cary Town Band will strike up
tunes reminiscent of turn of the century bands at the Sertoma Amphitheatre in
Bond Park,
801 High House Road
. The free concert will
feature American and foreign marches, circus music, overtures, and other
“pops” classical music, polkas, and waltzes.
Directed by Dr. James R. Hammerle, the band includes more than 30
musicians from
Cary
,
Raleigh
, Apex, and surrounding areas, who also
are professionals in other occupations.
The
American music tradition continues the following evening when the Concert
Singers of Cary, featuring the Triangle Wind Ensemble, present “An American
Celebration” – a concert including patriotic favorites.
The event will be held at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency
Parkway at
7:30 p.m.
, and gates open at
5 p.m.
Tickets
are $25 (table seating), $15 (adults), and $12 (seniors and students); children
under 12 are free. Tickets can be
purchased at Booth Amphitheatre Monday-Friday, noon-6 p.m. and on Saturday,
10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Tickets will also be available at the door.
