CARY TO HOST 2006 N.C. JUNIOR STATE CLOSED TOURNAMENT

 

CARY, NC – Nearly 600 of the state’s top, young tennis players will give it their best shot at the annual NC Junior State Closed Tournament, July 29-August 4 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at the following locations:  Cary Tennis Park, 2727 Louis Stephens Road; Annie L. Jones Park, 1414 Tarbert Drive; Middle Creek High School, 123 Middle Creek Park Ave., and Cary Academy, 1500 N Harrison Ave.

 

“We are really looking forward to hosting this much anticipated event,” said Cary ’s Head Tennis Professional Jonathan P. Fralick.  “The tournament is a great opportunity for junior tennis players to showcase their skills in a competitive environment and battle for the chance to be North Carolina ’s next tennis champions.”

 

Boys and girls ages 10 and under and 18 and under will compete in singles and doubles events during the tournament, which is being held in Cary for the fifth year.  A trophy will be awarded for singles, 1st-8th places, and doubles, 1st and 2nd place only, for each age group and each gender. 

 

Because Carpenter Upchurch Road is temporarily closed between High House Road and Louis Stephens Drive in Cary , motorists should use the following routes to access Cary Tennis Park :

 

·       From east of Cary Tennis Park

Take Davis Drive south (toward Cary ).  Turn right onto High House Road .  Turn right onto Highway 55 north.  Turn right onto Morrisville Carpenter Road .  Turn right onto Carpenter Upchurch Road .  Turn left onto Louis Stephens Drive

 

·        From west of Cary Tennis Park

Take Highway 55 north (toward Durham and I-40).  Turn right onto Morrisville Carpenter Road .  Turn right onto Carpenter Upchurch Road .  Turn left onto Louis Stephens Drive .
