“We’re very excited about this year’s show,” said Cindi King, Herbert C. Young Community Center Assistant Supervisor.  “All area teens are invited to come out and hear their favorite pop, punk, heavy metal and experimental tunes, while enjoying the concessions and relaxing in a fun environment.  Even better, the competition adds a little more excitement to the show.”

Prizes will be awarded to the bands as follows:  1st place - $500, 2nd place - $400, and 3rd place - $300.  The remaining bands will each receive $200.

In order to compete, all band members must be in a middle or high school, and at least half of the band members must attend a Cary school or live in Cary .  Lastly, half of the songs that each band performs must be original.

Jam Fest is a culmination of the monthly Band Night, which Cary ’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources department hosts the fourth Friday of the month during the school year for middle school and high school bands.  Band nights will resume in the fall 2006.
