ART INSTRUCTORS, STAFF AND STUDENTS DRAWN TOGETHER
FOR ANNUAL ARTS SHOW

 

CARY, NC – Art lovers are invited to mix and mingle with the instructors and staff of the Jordan Hall Arts Center as they kick off the annual Instructor Art Exhibit with a reception and demonstration day on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at the Arts Center,  908 N. Harrison Ave.  From noon to 5 p.m., guests can meet the talented instructors and staff, watch them practice their trade and talk with them about upcoming art classes.  In addition, the public can also take a piece of the show home with them and purchase the artists’ goods directly from the artists.

 

The following instructors will be exhibiting their talents in a variety of mediums, from ceramic to paintings to felting and jewelry:

 

·       Andi Dick, ceramic arts manager, instructor – handbuilt and wheel thrown pottery

·       Bobbi Hoppe, studio coordinator for daytime artist studio, instructor – drawing

·       Brenda Taylor, instructor – ceramics, acrylic painting      

·       Chick Lockerman, instructor – oil painting and oil pastels 

·       Connie Belton,  center supervisor    

·       Deanne Hooker, front desk staff

·       Ella Williams, front desk

·       Jewel Kichak, preschool and school aged instructor – general art

·       Johanna New, instructor – ceramics

·       Linda Simpson, instructor – jewelry for all ages, general art instructor for youth and preschoolers

·       Lisa Honeycutt, supply manager, instructor – felting

·       Nanci Tanton, assistant center supervisor, instructor – photography

·       Rocky Alexander, instructor – adult and teen watercolor, water soluble oils, jewelry

·       Virginia Adamsick, art instructor – canvas floor cloths, children’s general art and drawing

 

“Don’t miss this opportunity to check out the skills that instructors and staff have and are ready to share with art enthusiasts in the Triangle,” said Arts Center Supervisor Connie Belton.

  

The reception is free and open to the public.  For those who cannot attend the reception, the art show runs through Wednesday, October 25.  The Arts Center is open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.   The facility is closed on Sundays.
 

Named for developer George H. “Buck” Jordan, Jr., the Town of Cary’s Jordan Hall Arts Center opened in 1993 as one more example of the Town of Cary's commitment to high-quality arts education.  Each year, Jordan Hall provides more than 8,000 students of all ages with hands-on instruction in all aspects of visual arts.
