HUNT FAMILY FIDDLERS TO OPEN 2006-2007 MARVELOUS MUSIC SERIES IN CARY

Family to host a free workshop for Triangle fiddlers before concert

CARY , NC – The apple didn’t fall far from the tree in the Hunt family; in fact, the entire family has been fiddling their fiddles for years and is bringing their remarkable talent to Cary’s Herbert C. Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Ave., on Saturday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets to see the award-winning family of Irish step dancers, fiddlers and singers are now on sale for $18 (adults), $16 (seniors 55 and older), and $15 (12 and under) at the Community Center or at Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or (919) 834-4000.

As an added treat, four of the Hunt family members will share their skills with the public during a free workshop before the concert at the Community Center, 3-5 p.m.   The workshop is open to anyone that has been playing the violin, fiddle, or guitar for at least two years.  Interested participants should email sarah.bunch@townofcary.org or call (919) 469-3969 by October 27 to sign up; the workshop is limited to 30 students.

The family of nine performs Celtic, bluegrass, inspirational and popular tunes, offering a unique blend of diversity to every show.  Clint and Sandy, along with their seven children – Jessica, Jennifer, Joshua, Jonathan , Jordan , Justin and Jamison – have released four albums and have won numerous awards in fiddle, Irish dance and singing contests around the nation and the world.

“We invite everyone in and around Cary to come out and help us kick off what will be another great Marvelous Music Series,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.  “So, don’t miss your chance to hear and see this talented family in Cary .”

The Hunt Family Fiddlers are refreshing entertainment and are growing in demand. The family recently completed three seasons at Busch Gardens , Williamsburg , producing and performing four different shows. This versatility and popularity with audiences led to the development of several themed shows, including “Riverdance and Celtic Favorites”, “The Sound of Music”, Italian favorites a la “O Sole Mio” and “Time to Say Goodbye” and a “Fall Harvest Hoedown” with fast-paced bluegrass fiddling and lots of super-charged dancing.

This season’s Marvelous Music Series continues into 2007 with Marcus Belgrave’s Tribute to Louis Armstrong, Jan. 12; Dukes of Dixieland on Feb. 23 and Time for Three on May 4.  Season tickets are available through Friday, January 12 by requesting an order form at
(919) 462-3969; prices are $52 (4-concert package) and $45 (3-concert package).
