ONCE AGAIN EARNS HIGHEST FINANCIAL HONOR
CARY,
NC – For the 21st year in a row, the
Town of Cary has been awarded the 2005 Certificate of Achievement for Excellence
in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the
United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in
the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment
represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“Receiving
this award for 21 years demonstrates our continuing, long-term commitment to the
highest level of fiscal responsibility and transparency,” said Town Manager
Bill Coleman. “I remain very proud
and appreciate of the hard work all our staff does each day towards maintaining
our Town’s financial integrity.”
The
CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program,
including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly
communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to
read the CAFR.
“Each
year, we remain dedicated to providing citizens with the most accurate and
efficient financial information through our annual report,” said Town Finance
Director Karen Mills.
