CARY TO RECOGNIZE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR NOMINEES AT ANNUAL RECEPTION

 

CARY, NC – Twelve Town of Cary staff have been nominated by their colleagues to compete for the honor of Employee of the Year, part of the Town’s employee recognition program designed to retain and reward the best in local government.  The outstanding individuals will be honored at a reception on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Herbert C. Young Community Center on the Town Hall Campus, 101 Wilkinson Ave.

 

This year’s nominees are:

  • Michael Austin, Permit Specialist, Inspections & Permits

  • Randy Byrd, Police Sergeant, Police/Services Bureau

  • Paul Campbell, Wastewater Collections Field Supervisor, PWUT/Operations

  • Johnsie Dickerson, Finance Technician II, Finance

  • Houston Hinson, Solid Waste Supervisor, PWUT/Solid Waste Management

  • Cindi King, Asst. Community Center Supervisor/Herb Young, PRCR/Recreation

  • Tom Lehman, Facilities Work Expeditor, PWUT/Facility Management

  • Doug McRainey, Parks Planning Manager, PRCR/Administration

  • Greg Powers, Computer Systems Analyst, Technology Services

  • Brian Smith, Senior Police Officer, Police/Services Bureau

  • Butch Smith, Materials Handler, Finance/Purchasing

  • Donald Smith, Utility Pretreatment Technician II, PWUT/Pretreatment

 

“We congratulate this highly skilled group of dedicated individuals for continuously demonstrating a commitment to providing high quality service,” said Town Manager Bill Coleman.  “Employees are the most important resource to Town government and our citizens, and we focus each day on attracting and retaining the very best.”

 

A committee of citizens and Town staff will select this year’s finalists and winner for the Employee of the Year award from the group of nominees.  This year’s winner will be named at a luncheon on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 and recognized with a plaque and a $1,000 savings bond.  

 

The Town of Cary ’s Employee of the Year program was established in 1989 to recognize employees who consistently perform well beyond what the job description requires. Nominees are consistently courteous and helpful to others, and they strive to improve themselves and participate in the community.  Many nominations included accolades from Cary citizens.  For more about the program, see Employee of the Year at www.townofcary.org.
