CARY INVITES KIDS OF ALL AGES TO AWARD-WINNING PUPPET SHOW

CARY, NC – It has been four years since they last performed in Cary, and the award-winning Grey Seal Puppets are ready to capture the imagination of young audiences again when they present “Bathtub Pirates” at Sertoma Amphitheatre at Bond Park, 801 High House Road on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 3 p.m.  This free show marks the fourth performance in the Town’s Fall Sertoma Series.

Surrounded by aquatic toys and a sea of bubbles, the imagination runs wild in “Bathtub Pirates” with adventure stories. Captain Blackbeard, one of the Carolinas' most infamous pirates, is without his ship. So, a child's bathtub will have to do. The suspense builds when a crew member tries to take over Captain Blackbeard’s ship and become Captain Kid.

Founded in 1976, Grey Seal Puppets are renown nationwide. The company performs over 250 shows a year from New York to Hawaii and from Canada to Mexico. Their repertoire consists of familiar fairy tales such as “The Emperor's New Clothes”, classic folk tales including “Tangle of Tales” and the original story of “Bathtub Pirates”.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to bring your child out for free, live entertainment here in the Triangle,” said Performing Arts Coordinator Sarah Bunch.

In addition to live performances, Grey Seal can also be seen regularly on television on programs such as The Reimler Agency (Bojangles), the Muppets, Silver Burdett Ginn and the International Mission Board. The company has garnered a number of awards including a "Citation of Excellence" for their adaptation of George Orwell's “Animal Farm” and “Bathtub Pirates”. Their television work also has been honored with several awards in the industrial and broadcast categories including a prestigious Beacon Award and the ITVA Silver Reel of Excellence.

Each year, the Town of Cary’s Fall Sertoma Concert Series features the best in free, live, outdoor entertainment.  Guests are invited to return to Sertoma for the last concert of the Fall Concert Series, Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble, Saturday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m.
