TEEN COMEDIANS HAVE THE LAST LAUGH IN CARY

CARY , NC Something funny is going on in Cary , and everyone is invited to check it out on Saturday, February 18 when the Applause! Cary Youth Theatre puts on a bone-tickling performance during the first-ever Improv Comedy Night at the Cary Senior Center Ballroom, 120 Maury O'Dell Place at 7 p.m.   In a style similar to the TV show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” 11 teen performers will showcase their improvisational skills using comical characters and scenes based on the audience’s suggestions.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. , and the event is free of charge.

“Everyone is buzzing about the upcoming show,” said Rachel Green, Youth Theatre Coordinator.  “Local, talented teens will get a chance to share their creative and entertaining skills, and the audience is sure to enjoy the interactive, fast-paced and lively atmosphere.”

The performance is part of a two-part Drama Workshop Series offered by Applause! Cary Youth Theatre to teach specific theatre skills to teens.  Class topics vary, and each class culminates in a performance designed to showcase skills learned in the class. The February class has been working on improvisational comedy, and the Improv Night is a culmination of the three-week class.

For teens interested in future classes and performances, the next Drama Workshop Series class will be held March 4-18, entitled “Scene Study.”  Teens ages 13-18 may sign up by clicking on EZ-Reg Web at www.townofcary.org, calling (919) 469-4061 or visiting any of the Town community centers.
