Applause! Cary Youth Theatre Presents The Lion,

The Witch and the Wardrobe

CARY , NC C.S. Lewis’ classic story of good versus evil will come to life in downtown Cary this weekend when Applause! Cary Youth Theatre opens its seventh season with “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” at Old Cary Elementary School , 100 Dry Avenue The production will run Friday, October 28-30 and November 4-6, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.  The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $5 for children ages five and under.  Tickets are on sale at Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Administrative Offices and the Herbert C. Young Community Center

Set in the mythical kingdom of Narnia , the play celebrates life through love, faith, courage and giving.  The play will be performed in the media center by nearly 30 youth ages 8-18 from Cary and surrounding areas.

“We are looking forward to another successful year of Applause! Cary Youth Theatre,” said Youth Theatre Coordinator Rachel Green.  “Each year, these performances promote a fun, positive and educational theatre experience for our community’s young enthusiasts.”

Applause! Cary Youth Theatre offers classes, workshops and performing opportunities designed to welcome young people to the world of theatre as well as allow those with more experience to develop their skills in a process-oriented environment.  Applause! programs are staffed with theatre professionals committed to encourage creativity, confidence and an appreciation of the theatre in youth.

This fall production is one of two annual performance opportunities offered by Applause!.  The spring production will be held at Sertoma Amphitheatre in spring 2006.
