NEWS RELEASE
SUBMIT APPLICATION BY FRIDAY
FOR CARY’S 2005 SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT
Cary, NC – Friday, July 29th, is the last day to get your application in for the Town’s 2005 session of the School of Government, an innovative, hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at Town government, decision-making, and the people and facilities that provide the services you use every day. The course is designed to increase awareness of the breadth and depth of town planning and services, provide greater understanding of how and when the public is involved in town processes and decisions, and motivate continued involvement with the community. Sessions are scheduled for Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. from September 14 through October 26, plus one session on Saturday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The request to develop a “citizen’s college” was made at the 2002 Council Retreat. Staff researched options and developed the curriculum over the following year. The current program is organized around the Council-adopted goals and initiatives and covers governmental structure and organization, community planning, infrastructure, development processes, finance and budgeting, and municipal services.
Participants will be chosen to represent a cross section of Cary citizens from various professions, neighborhoods and age groups.
For more information or to download an application, go to the Town’s Web site at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 469‑4007.
