SAS ART EXHIBITED IN CARY FOR FIRST TIME
STARTING FRIDAY
CARY, NC – Starting this Friday, about 30 pieces from the private SAS Art Collection will be on public exhibition for the first time in Cary. Admission is free for this rare opportunity, which runs through August 29th at the Town of Cary’s Page-Walker Art and History Museum. The public is also invited to the exhibition’s opening reception on Friday, August 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. The artwork will be on display through August 29.
“It is wonderful to have the opportunity to share our works with the public,” said Holly Brewster Jones, SAS Artist in Residence. “In this exhibit we tried to show artists’ works that you may not have seen locally and to show the variety of styles and mediums we have collected.”
SAS has amassed nearly 5,000 pieces of original artwork since starting its collection in late 1970's.
As an added bonus for SAS Collection visitors, the Town of Cary is offering a second exhibition, “The Carpenter Portfolio,” as part of Friday’s opening reception. This photography exhibition by Joe Lipka runs through September 28th.
Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources presents regular exhibits of art in Town facilities. Following “Art from the SAS Collection,” “Lynda Stuart Curry: Bundles and Shells,” an exhibition in oils and mixed media, will be on display in the main gallery while “Chet Nedwidek: Turned Wood” will be available for viewing in the display case.
