MORE EXPLOSIVES FOUND IN SUSPECT’S HOME CARY, NC – Jarrett William Brown, 17, has led investigators to more than a dozen more bombs as well as various substances used in their manufacture. These items were found at his residence at 705 Pepperstone Court in Fuquay-Varina. Brown, a rising senior at Apex High School, has been cooperating with Cary investigators. Pepperstone Court, a small cul-de-sac, has been evacuated along with two other homes behind the suspect’s house, for a total of nine houses. Fuquay-Varina police and firefighters, ATF officials, CCBI, Wake County Emergency Management, and the Raleigh Haz-Mat and Hazardous Device Unit are on the scene. Earlier today, Cary police received a call at 12:34 p.m. reporting a hit and run accident in the Waverly shopping center. No one was hurt in the accident, but a witness was able to describe the hit and run vehicle which was then shared with surrounding jurisdictions. At 12:42 p.m., an Apex police officer spotted the vehicle at Lake Pine Drive and US64 and made the stop. Since the stop pertained to a Cary accident, a Cary police officer also responded. At this time, the officer discovered the suspicious devices – six small pieces of pipe with what appeared to be fuses. At this point, further support was requested, and the adjacent businesses – a dentist office and day care – were evacuated. The Hazardous Device Unit contained the devices at 3:25 p.m., later confirmed to be explosives, and evacuees were allowed to return shortly thereafter. Brown has been cited with hit and run and is expected to be charged with numerous counts of possession of weapons of mass destruction. Brown is being taken Wake County Public Safety Center for processing. ###
