& CHAPEL HILL JOINTLY CELEBRATE FEDERAL GRANT FOR POLICE TECHNOLOGY

WHAT:           Check presentation for and demonstration of new state-of-the-art digital cameras that will be used in Cary and Chapel Hill police vehicles  

WHEN:          10 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2004  

WHERE:        Town of Cary Page Walker Arts & History Center, Ambassador Loop, Town Hall Campus in downtown Cary  

WHO:             Wounded Cary Police Officer George Almond, Congressman David Price, local elected officials, police chiefs, and staff  

BACKGROUND:

Congressman David Price has helped secure $250,000 to be split by the police departments of Cary and Chapel Hill to purchase new, state-of-the-art digital camera systems for patrol vehicles.  The ceremony will include comments from Officer George Almond who was critically wounded during a traffic stop in 2001, a check presentation by Congressman Price, and a demonstration of the technology in a patrol vehicle.  

In case of rain, the event will move indoors to the main gallery of the Page Walker .
