FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A-TEAM CREWS SPREAD SAND-SALT CHEER THROUGHOUT CARY

CARY, NC – Town of Cary A-Teams have been in high gear sanding and salting thoroughfares and major intersections since before the snow began falling around 7 a.m.  Twelve spreader crews have access to about 2500 tons of sand/salt screenings.  Truck plows are standing by to clear roadway snow should it accumulate enough for them to be effective.  At this hour, a light blanket of mostly snow covers the ground, and surfaces are slippery.

ACCIDENTS

There have been three storm-related traffic accidents in Cary since 7 a.m. today.

TREES

While no downed trees have yet been reported, officials remind citizens who discover them not to attempt to deal with trees on their own as downed trees may be tangled with nearby live power lines.  Instead, call the Town of Cary to report the problem.

COMMUNICATIONS

Please do not call 911 unless there is an emergency posing an immediate threat to life, health, or property.  Complete severe weather information is always available on the Town’s Web site, http://www.townofcary.org/.

The next winter weather update will be issued around noon Sunday unless changing conditions warrant sooner action.
