Special theatrical performance by Far From Broadway, followed by tree-trimming, cookie exchange and refreshments await you all!  Those wishing to participate in a homemade cookie exchange, please bring a dozen to share, and a dozen for the exchange.

Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park is transformed in to a magical winter wonderland complete with beautifully decorated trees by area civic organizations. Families can bring a blanket and cozy up on the lawn to enjoy holiday movie classics while sipping on hot cocoa. For the wee ones a visit to the enchanted Gingerbread House will offer kids the chance to take part in arts and crafts projects or write a letter to Santa.

$8 for teens and adults, children 12 and under are free

Mad Dash Baby Sitting

Parents, take a night out for you! Let the Cary Teen Council entertain your children while you shop, go out for dinner or just enjoy a night on your own. The children will have a light dinner, play games, make a holiday ornament and help trim the tree! -Space is limited! Children must be potty trained! Registration fee made payable directly to the Cary Teen Council.

Santa’s Workshop!

Cary Teen Council’s annual Christmas Celebration. Drop-in activity featuring Make It/Take It Holiday craft projects, light refreshments, and live entertainment. Special visitor from the NORTH POLE and special entertainment from the Cary Ballet Company! While at Santa’s workshop, support the Cary Teen Council’s food drive by sending each child with 2 non-perishable food items. All contributions will be given to the Food Bank of N.C.

Offleash Dog Park for a Day

The Cary Dog Park Club is sponsoring "Dog Park for a Day" on the open play field at North Cary Park.  Dogs and their owners can get together for a few hours of socialization.  No children under the age of 13 will be admitted into the play area. Leashes are required when walking your dog through the park to the event, but are not required within the designated area.  Additional restrictions apply; please visit www.carydogparkclub.org for more information.  Cary Dog Park Club is made up of local residents dedicated to establishing the first public dog park in Cary

Heart of the Holidays

 

The Heart of Cary Association’s Old Time Winter Festival; 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Celebrations begin with the Heart of Cary’s Old Time Winter Festival held on the streets of Downtown Cary. Festival goers can enjoy arts & crafts, entertainment, food, activities, and more. Start (or finish) your holiday shopping! Santa will be there from 11 a.ma – 3 p.m. Walking tours of historic Downtown Cary from 2-5 p.m..

 

Page-Walker Arts & History Center Open House; 4-6 p.m. 

Holiday cheer continues with the annual open house at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Decorated for the holidays by

the Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel, you'll be able to visit the Cary Heritage Museum, enjoy refreshments, music by Moment's

Notice Jazz Trio, and participate in activities celebrating the holidays. The Town of Cary’s Water Conservation program will be on hand with its holiday "giftaway" campaign.

 

Official Town of Cary Tree Lighting and Holiday Variety Show; 6 p.m. 

Time to light up the Town tree! The official lighting of the Town tree is an annual tradition and has become incredibly popular over the past years. This festive night features talented members from our community onstage in the Holiday Tree Lighting Variety Show and Mistress of Ceremonies Vanna Fox, from WRAL 101.5

 

Concert Singers of Cary Holiday Pops Concert; 7:30 p.m.

The Heart of the Holidays Celebration concludes as the Concert Singers of Cary present their annual Holiday Pops in Cary.

The program includes a delightful selection of seasonal classics, modern works appropriate to the holiday, and traditional carols.

All events, except the concert, are free and open to the public

 

Tickets for the Holiday Pops in Cary concert are $15 for adults, $12 for senior 60 and older, and Children 12 and under are free

Cary Community Choir’s 34th Annual Messiah

The Cary Community Choir, a nonprofit organization, will present its 34th annual presentation of the Christmas portion of George Frederic Handel’s Messiah with orchestra and guest soloists.  Cary Community Choir is partially supported by the Town of Cary and by a grant from Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival.

Photographic Detective Work: What to do with unidentified photographs?

Determining timeframe, finding clues to identity, checking for alterations before the digital age, and tips for digital restorations.  (Bring pictures). The Genealogy Forum is a monthly, Thursday night meeting for people interested in genealogy. Open to all members of the community. Members of the group lead topics and discussions.

A Christmas Story

“You’ll shoot your eye out!” is all young Ralphie Parker hears as he begs his mother, teacher, and even Santa Clause himself for a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas.  This adaptation includes all the hilarious elements from the motion picture, from the family’s temperamental exploding furnace, to a wet-tongue experiment on a cold lamppost, to the infamous woman’s leg lamp.

Cary Kwanzaa is a communal, cultural celebration that honors African-American people and their heritage. It is a celebration for all people, focusing on the family, friends and the fruits of the earth. Guest speaker, Dr. Claude Anderson, performers and a community market are features of the program. Cary Kwanzaa is co-sponsored by the Ujima Group, Inc.
