NINTH ANNUAL CARY SPRING DAZE FESTIVAL TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND

CARY, NC – One of the Triangle’s favorite outdoor events, Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival, will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Town Hall Campus at the 300 block of North Academy Street in downtown Cary. Organized by the Festivals Committee in conjunction with the Town of Cary, this ninth annual festival will feature over 150 local artists, live entertainment, and plenty of good food provided by local civic and church groups.

"Spring Daze is one of Cary’s most popular events," said Mary Barry, director of Cary’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department. Planned on a smaller, more intimate scale than late summer’s Lazy Daze, Spring Daze is a particular favorite of Cary residents who enjoy the slower pace of traditional, community get-togethers.

This year’s entertainment will include nine different acts, featuring Big Rick and the Bombers and the Gregg Gelb Swing Band, all presented on the Town Hall Main Stage. The Capital Area Preservation Spring Landmarks Tour is taking place as part of the festivities. The tour features 15 historic structures in Downtown Cary, including the Guess-Ogle house, Cary Elementary, and the First United Methodist Church. These self-guided tours may begin at 10 a.m. and conclude by 4 p.m. Tickets for the Landmarks Tour can be purchased at the festival.

Free transportation to the Festival will also be provided from Cary Towne Center throughout the day. Parking for the shuttle is outside of Sears. Shuttles will run continuously from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In case of rain, the festival will be held on Sunday, April 28 from noon to 7 p.m. For more information about Spring Daze, contact Cary PRCR at (919) 469-4061 or visit WHAT’S NEW on the Town’s website at www.townofcary.org.
