CARY, NC – The Town of Cary’s Police Department is asking for your help in locating a man who this afternoon robbed the SouthTrust bank at 712 Southeast Maynard Road, near the intersection of Walnut and Maynard, in central Cary. No one was hurt. The suspect brandished a dark handgun and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The red dye packet dropped into the money did discharge, and police believe that the man and his clothes or car may be stained.At 12:39 p.m., Cary Police received a 9-1-1 call from bank employees reporting that a man had just robbed the bank at gunpoint and left the scene in a white Honda, possibly 2-door. The suspect is described as a white male, 20-25 years old, 5’6"-5’8", slim build, 150-170 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue or black ski mask with the eyes and mouth cut out, along with a dark sweatshirt jacket and dark pants. Cary Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification and apprehension of the individual responsible for this crime.
