ROAD REOPENED AFTER TUESDAY'S FIRE
CARY, NC -- Old Apex Road is once again open from Marilyn Circle to W. Chatham Street, after a fire broke out yesterday at Garden Supply Company located at 1421 Old Apex Road, and a ladder truck responding to the fire collapsed, blocking this portion of Old Apex Road. The damaged ladder truck has been loaded onto a trailer and is being transported to the manufacturer, Pierce Manufacturers, in Appleton, Wisconsin, for further inspection.
The two Cary firefighters who were in the bucket of the ladder truck when it collapsed, have been released from Western Wake Medical Center and are doing well. The media is requested not to contact the firefighters or their families. If and when the firefighters are able to conduct interviews, the Town will contact the media to arrange all interviews.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway.
