REGISTRATION EASIER THAN EVER IN CARY
WITH NEW ELECTRONIC OPTIONS

CARY, NC – Beginning today, it’s easier than ever to register for Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources' classes and programs thanks to EZ-Reg--four convenient ways to register for classes and programs that now include the Web and the telephone. In addition to mail-in and walk-in registration, the Town’s new EZ-REG Web and EZ-Reg Phone services allow participants to register 24-hours a day from the convenience and privacy of their home or office using a credit card for payment. Choose now from many classes listed in the Winter/Spring 2002 Program Brochure and select Summer Camp and Art Experiences.

While Cary’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department has been using Class' software since 1997 for program registration, work began on implementation of Class' electronic registration modules in 2001. Test groups—one for phone and one for Web--were selected from current participants and asked to try the new electronic systems last fall and provide comments before the systems were brought online for the general public today. Cary spent about $29,000 over the last several years to bring the electronic services online.

"We’re very excited to be able expand our registration processes," said Mary Barry, Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Director. "We believe that the four components of EZ-REG will go a long way in making it extremely easy to participate in Cary activities."

The Town of Cary is the first municipality in North Carolina to offer program registration using Class Software Solutions Ltd. 's Interactive Voice Response software--EZ-REG Phone. In the United States, only 55 other municipalities have purchased or implemented interactive voice response this software.

Cary is the second municipality in North Carolina to offer program registration over the Internet using Class' E-Connect software--EZ-REG Web. Only 64 other municipalities in the nation have purchased or implemented this software.

Stop by any Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources staffed facility and pick-up an instructional brochure or download the brochure from the Town of Cary Web site. In order to use EZ-REG Web or EZ-REG Phone, households will need an account in the system and their personal access codes. Accounts and personal access codes are available by completing and signing a Family Account Registration Form. These codes include a Family Account PIN and individual Client Codes. Households that have registered for programs within the past two years should receive their personal access codes in the mail with an instructional brochure on how to access the system. In addition, Cary utility subscribers should receive a Family Account Registration Form and instructional brochure in the mail. The Family Account Registration Form, instructional brochure, and Program Brochures are available at any Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Staffed Facility and at www.townofcary.org.

EZ Reg is the newest feature of the Town of Cary’s award-winning Web site, which also features audio files of Council meetings, video files of BUD TV, and Maps Online. The third overhaul of the site was completed in July 2001, moving the site to a topic-based orientation. With about 55,000 files and more than 6,500 hits a day, the Town of Cary’s site is today a leader in local government web services. More than 88% of Cary’s 100,000+ citizens report having access to the Web.
