PSA—CARY’S ANNUAL, WEEKEND-LONG CELEBRATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Make plans now to participate in the Town of Cary’s free four-day, hands-on educational celebration of our environment, April 18-21, 2002. Focus/activities include:

  • April 18--Arbor Day: Observe Cary Arbor Day by conducting a neighborhood tree search, taking a tree walk, or giving your yard a "tree check-up"’;
  • April 19--"Clean Your Files Day": Clean out your files and recycle the unnecessary paper. This is a great time for your business to start its own recycling program;
  • April 20-- Earth Day Celebration, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Ritter Park; dozens of activities for all ages including stream searches, backyard composting, "Do Worms Eat Your Garbage" activity table, EnviroScapeâ interactive watershed display, hands-on activities to describe indoor water efficiency and outdoor watering, and much more;
  • April 21—Volunteer for Cary Day: "Storm Drain Stenciling"(ages 10 and up), from
    2 - 4 p.m.; "Litter Sweep" (ages 12 and up), from 1 - 4 p.m.; and "Hemlock Bluffs Trail Workday" (ages 6 and up), from 1 - 3 p.m.;
