FIANCE ARRESTED IN DEATH OF LOCAL TEACHER

CARY, NC --The Town of Cary’s Police Department has charged Ian Aulden Campbell, 29, with First Degree Murder in the death of his fiancé, Heather Anne Domenie.

Police took Campbell into custody without incident this evening during a traffic stop at 8:21 p.m. in Cary.  Campbell has been taken to the Wake County Public Safety Center in Raleigh for processing.  No word at this time on bond or first appearance.

Campbell called Cary 9-1-1 to report that he had discovered Domenie, 33, not breathing and apparently dead in the home they shared at 206 North Becket Street in western Cary at 9:26 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2002.

“We cannot comment on the details of the investigation at this time other than to say that we believe that Campbell did kill Ms. Domenie,” said Lt. Barry Nickalson, head of Cary Criminal Investigations Unit.

Police will answer questions from the media at a news conference at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, in the Cary Town Council Chambers at 316 North Academy Street in downtown Cary.
