CARY TO DEDICATE ANOTHER NEW PARK TONIGHT, THIS ONE FEATURING BALL FIELDS GALORE
CARY, NC – The Town of Cary hits a home run tonight with the dedication of its 20th park at a ceremony this evening. The 127-acre Thomas Brooks Park features four lighted softball/baseball fields with a concession/restroom/scorer’s tower, two soccer fields, two shelters, two basketball courts, a playground, and a paved walking path.
Current and former town council members, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources advisory board members and committees, NC Parks & Recreation Authority members, and project consultants and contractors will be present to inaugurate this new facility at a brief ceremony at Field #3 at 6:15 p.m. After remarks by former council member and park namesake Dr. Brooks, Brooks will throw out the opening pitch, and the scheduled church league games will begin.
Woolpert of Charlotte and Withers & Ravenel Engineering and Surveying of Cary were the architects and engineers on the project which was constructed by Tommy Lawrence Electrical Contractors of Roxboro, MLB Industries of Raleigh, and Brown Brothers Plumbing Company of Durham.
Construction of this park cost approximately $4 million with $250,000 coming from the NC Parks & Recreation Trust Fund and the rest coming from parks and recreation bond proceeds and the Town’s general fund.
Thomas Brooks Park is located at 111 Brooks Park Lane off of Green Level Church Road. For more information about this project, call (919) 469-4061 or visit the Town’s Web site.
