ARTS DAY IN CARY -- May 5, 2002

The public is invited to meet art quilters and accomplished student artists at three locations in Cary on Sunday, May 5, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. According to Lyman Collins, Cultural Resources Supervisor for the Town of Cary, "this is a wonderful opportunity to observe artistry from its genesis in childhood, through adolescence and as expressed in the mature creativity of adult fiber artists."

Art quilts return to Cary with "Encrustations," an exhibit of 57 embellished quilts from 21 U.S. states, two Canadian provinces and Belgium. Work by 52 artists is represented, including 12 from North Carolina. "Encrustations" will be on view in the 1st and 2nd floor galleries at Page-Walker Arts & History Center May 3 - May 29.

The "8th Annual Children’s Art Show" featuring drawing, painting, collage and sculpture by the youngest artists among us takes place May 3 - May 31 at Jordan Hall Arts Center, 908 N. Harrison Ave., Cary.

The "4th Student Art Show" featuring work in various media by students from greater Cary area High Schools will be on view at the Herbert C. Young Community Center, 404 N. Academy St., May 3 - May 22. The exhibit is sponsored by Fine Arts League of Cary and Pete Turner is the award juror.

The public is invited to attend receptions for all exhibits on Sunday, May 5 from 2 - 4 p.m.
